Studded & Strapped...

New Goodies Make My Heart Go Boom Boom Boom

A few weeks ago the lovely Miss_S  of candycaneheart.blogspot.co.uk or @Sophie_Swinney as some of you Twitterites may know her...made a video and had just gotten an amazing pair of boots. I knew that my feet would never truly be happy until I had the same ones in my boot arsenal.

Sophie was kind enough share with me that she had ordered them from Dorothy Perkins.  Off I went with an itchy clicking finger and debit card in hand to order up some foot goodness. Lucky me, I was able to score them for nearly half price with FREE shipping all the way from England!

Oh happy Thursday...they arrived!

I must say that I found these boots pretty fabulous last night when I opened the package ...but tonight once I put them on >>> WHOLLY MUTHER!  I can honestly say that I have never in my life been more in love with a pair of shoes than I am with these.  I put these babies on and I wanted to go out and let the world see the brilliance that I had on my feet.  I also knew that taking them off tonight was going to prove difficult so I began building outfits around them in my head for tomorrows adventures!

I'm sure my post sounds strange to some but others will know exactly what I'm talking about.  These boots are one of those rare finds that only happen along so often and when it does you embrace it and share your joy with the world.  I mean obviously I hold these boots in high regard...just look at the pillow I sat them on for their photo shoot!

We went out for a little dinner this evening so I threw on my hand studded flannel and city jumper from forever 21 and of course a beanie to cover up this mop of a mess that's called my hair...and away we went....out into the world for all to enjoy my most recent purchase.

A Week Of A Whole Lotta...WHAT?!

Most Of The Time I Just Sit And Ponder
November 18th-25th

1.  Some light Jewelry making went on
2.  Chicken & cheese stuffed ravioli with marsala wine & mushroom sauce
3.  Barbie tree topper at the charity shop
4.  My all time favourite Thanksgiving pie
5.  Yogurt covered pretzels, dark chocolate with sea salt & almonds, mixed nuts
6.  My little buddy - Dog pronounced DeOhGee

This week was Thanksgiving so I had a three day work week which was FABULOUS!  The night before Thanksgiving my manfriend and I went thrifting for a bit before we stuffed ourselves full of Outback Steakhouse.  It was at the thrift store, Goodwill, that I saw the little Christmas tree with the Barbie plopped right on top.  I made mention of how awesome it was and the cute girl named Elena who was ringing us up said "Oh...that's MY doing!" I said 'Well I DIG it!..Kudos Elena, kudos!"

I crafted some spiked gold tone jewelry  this week as I could not find any at the stores..so off to the Hobby Lobby I went.  I came home and crafted myself a great spiked necklace and pair of earrings ON THE CHEAP!  The crafting went nicely with a glass of Oliver Soft Red wine and some Amy Winehouse on the turntable..A good night indeed!

How was your week..anything exciting?  Any good finds at your local charity shop?

Autumn Flats & OOTD Video

All They Are Is Shoes In The Wind

I love making videos but I realized that I am not so much the type to sit in front of the camera and show the goodies & talk.  I wanted to make something more 'artsy' *for lack of a better term* and less 'Angi sitting and blathering on and on' (even thought I DO love a good blather session!)  So I came up with this..hopefully you'll be seeing more of these  types of videos from me as I REALLY enjoy filming AND editing this type!  If you have any ideas for this type of video please leave it in the comments below!

Such A Wonderful Lazy Day

Tupac And The Chihuahua

Ahhh...having the day off of work calls for an outfit that will work well when I'm slothing around here and there.  Especially today when my belly is so full it's about to bust!  I don't remember Tupac being quite so 'puffy' in the chestal region!!

The shoes I hate to love... >>>

Tupac or Biggie ...THAT is the question!  For me it was ALWAYS Tupac...
To me Biggie always sounded like he had a mouth full of mashed potatoes
I could never really get past that.  Not to mention that Tupac was beautiful
and the fact his rapping didn't make me automatically think about fried chicken & biscuits was a huge plus!

Hoodie - H&M
Shorts - Forever 21
Tights - Target
Shoes - Aldo
Shirt & Beanie - Zumiez
Earbobs - Home made!

So now I ask YOU the question..Tupac or Biggie?

Revlon Lip Butters

Lippies For Your Kisser

Kissable 5.0
^Red Velvet ---- Brown Sugar^

The Revlon Lip Butters sit somewhere on the spectrum between tinted lip balm and lipstick. I like that you can layer the colour on and make your lips look more dramatic or simply do a quick swipe and have a sheer tint.

There are  over 20 shades of lip butters, ranging from pink to peach to nude to red to a deep berry.  I purchased Red Velvet and Brown Sugar because Walgreens had them on special for buy one get one for 50% off.  Which of course left me standing there thinking "I CAN'T buy just ONE!"

Red Velvet $7.99

They're super-hydrating with a really nice, light finish. They're not sticky or tacky & the color won't disappear easily. The formula is amazing, containing mango, shea and coconut butter.  I have to be honest here though, even with ALL of that added moisture...my lips STILL got a little dry after having it on for a few hours. I guess that is to be expected with most lipsticks though?

I was very impressed with the fact that the colour was the same towards the end of the day as when I first applied it.  There was no strange orange or pinky undertones that popped up halfway through the day...which is a very good thing!

Have you tried the Revlon Colour Burst Lip Butters..if so, what did YOU think of them?

Relaxed Autumn Cover

If You Listen Close You Can Hear Me ROAR

Sunday we had absolutely amazing weather and I thought I'd take advantage of it and get some photos outside before we freeze up!
Since it was designated 'leaf rake day' I decided to get comfy in my $1.00 leopard jeans and old as dirt, paper thin grey sweatshirt and get down to business..."cute style", so the neighbors wouldn't have to look out and see yet another boring 'leaf raking ensemble' ...I know, I know you're thinking "how very sweet of her, giving such visual consideration to others."

Well damn! I'd rather look out my window and see someone raking leaves in some hipster attire rather than than a COLTS jersey!  And if I never see another pair of mom jeans or Velcro closure stark white tennis shoes when I look out my front window, it will be TOO SOON!

At any rate I did a quick photo shoot before the festivities began and I had to change from my black flats into my grey Chuck Taylor's!  Rake, rake, rake...Bag, bag, bag...in style.

From the back to the front Leopard was the word

1. Earbobs on bark 2. ensemble 3. beanie & guns 4. rings on moss

The hibbiest thing in sight...

What time is it...It's time to rake the leaves - bummer

my most recent perfect purchase - $12

Raking leaves left me famished...off for some Teriyaki & chips with salt & vinegar

Spikes and Studs and Sushi OH MY!

What I wore for a Date Night Done Right...

Cozy details did me right for my Saturday date sushi night!

Last night we decided to go for a bit of sushi...again!  I could eat sushi everyday no problem!  Since it was our 'date night' I decided to try out the DIY studded plaid shirt and cardi that I  had crafted earlier in the week.  I bought the shirt and the cardi both a size too big as I plan on washing them (obviously) and since they were both VERY inexpensive I KNOW they will shrink.  I paired them with the black zippered leggings from forever 21, my new old school Casio digital, my 'eye've got my eye on you ring, and my trusty ol' platform shooties.  I actually bought them for My manfriends photo exhibition that he had in March 2012.  At the time I thought that they would not get much use..but I'm finding that I can pair them with a lot of different bits and they'll make any boring ol' everyday, run of the mill outfit 'come to life'

So here is what I wore to eat some fabulous sushi on Saturday night date night with my love:

These leggings proved to not only be comfy but WARM as well!  I went without a coat last night or a ...wait for it...without a SCARF!
I know, can you believe it? It was pretty chilly out side but I was all warm and snuggly in the oversized cardi, shirt and leggings.  I know these $12 finds are going to make it into many 'what I wore' photos and will get plenty of wear at work this winter as well.

The zipper detail on these leggings is what sold me.  Not to mention the great pattern in the material as opposed to some plain cotton ones for the same price!  Love Love LOVING my new Casio watch..!

Do you have any 'go to' clothing items for date night?

Lunch Break Shopping Bits....

Hey you!  I love your England

crafty collars, Jack-A-Lope decor, my little helper, what's up stud? and some bits!

So I've been loving all of the spikes and studs that I've been seeing all over the web..but unfortunately I'm in the Midwest and we don't have a huge selection going on here. I didn't fret about it too much though, because I'm (as the Beastie Boys would say) "Crafty" not crafty like Skilled in underhandedness or deviousness type of way..but you know...CRAFTY, like your Grannie! So I decided to pick up an inexpensive plaid shirt and throw some studs & spikes on it myself.  I felt better about that anyway since it is pretty trendy and I don't like to spend a too much on trendy items.

Hobby Lobby provided the metal for this project and I utilized my attention to detail and labour skills.

One of my favorite purchases from my Thursday lunch break shopping spree was the old school Casio digital watch I scored for a mere $20!  I've been wanting one for ages and I was super excited to find the perfect one for me at such a bargain price!

Talking French mistletoe...what??  Oui Oui tis true!

Jack-A-Lope holding my new shirt, bits for the necklace I'm making
oui, oui talking French mistletoe, old school Casio watch, jumper & plaid shirt

Have you bought any fun Holiday bits yet?  What are you favourite new trends?  Do you have any particular items you're looking for when you're out?

Just One Week In This Thing Called Life...

Shining Times Will Reign
November 4th-9th

Last Saturday seemed like the perfect night to give a different sushi joint a shot.  Very happy we did! So much great food, so many laughs.

My work week was insane with the CEO and the whole outside sales team in town...so blogging was close to impossible...I did manage to mirror shot my new jumper & scarf.  The Maybelline nail stickers I put on Sunday night were nothing short of ....JUNK!  They lasted a mere two days and snagged every article of clothing that came in contact with them. BOO!

Hello lovely scarf..thank you for only costing me $5 last year!
Maybelline nail stickers...you can bugger off!

Some good news though...open knit sweaters and shorts with tights made my work week comfy and stylish....Hanging out in my music lounge for some much needed relax time after my work day proved to be very beneficial for my soul...

What will this week hold?  I have a few crafty ideas in mind and few things on my want list...so be sure to check back next week to see what transpires!

Salmon & Veggies Baked In Cedar Paper

Do you enjoy baked fish & Veggies?

What you will need:

Salmon
Asparagus
Carrots
Zucchini (courgettes)
Honey
Brown Sugar
Butter
Sea Salt & White & Black Pepper
Lemon
Lime
Cedar Paper

Served with a warm French Baguette

This recipe is easy, healthy and DELICIOUS!

I love salmon but always find it bland when I get it at restaurants ..but not this concoction that I've come up with,  it is far from bland!

I use 2 medium sized salmon filet's and cut them in half.  One bunch of asparagus, washed & trimmed (the best way to determine where to trim the stalks is simply bend the asparagus until it snaps) then just take 4-6 stalks at a time and snap them as you wash them under running water.  The carrots I julienned and for I used 3 big carrots for this recipe. One zucchini or courgettes for my British readers!  Again julienned.

Prep all of your veggies and have your salmon cut...Take your cedar paper (which I start to soak in water and lime juice for about  30 minutes before I cut up my veggies) lay the salmon *skin side down* on the cedar paper and drizzle with the honey/butter/brown sugar mixture.  The mixture is about 3-4 tablespoons of brown sugar (I use light brown), 3-4 tablespoons of butter, and about 3-4 tablespoons of honey.   I don't really measure when I'm making my own recipes, I got by 'taste' so use your own judgement and see how 'sweet & buttery' you like it!

Drizzle the honey/butter/brown sugar mixture over the salmon on the cedar plank and sprinkle some sea salt & black and white pepper over the drizzle.  Then place the veggies on top of the salmon.  You can drizzle more honey/butter/brown sugar mixture over the veggies as well or just sea salt & pepper.

Gently roll the cedar paper up and tie with the string provided (or any string..just make sure it was soaked in the water for 30 minutes as well so you don't catch fire to your kitchen!)

Bake at 325 for about 15-20 minutes (ovens will vary) I did 25 minutes at 350 once too and it was fine..but that salmon was a little thicker.

I served this with a warm French baguette and wine.

Let me know how yours turns out!  ENJOY!
